Tow Boat Safety
wake surfing
While a lot of us think wake surfing is fun, remember not everyone feels that way. Help do your part and make sure you follow the guidelines for wake surfing on Deep Creek Lake. Educate others on which areas of the lake are off limits for surfing so we can keep enjoying the sport!
appropriate hand signals
It is difficult to communicate from the boat to the person water skiing. Hand signals make it easier to know what the skier wants the boat operator to do. Have your spotter/lookout communicate the hand signals from the skier to the driver to ensure everyone is safe and has fun!
life jackets
If you are preforming a watersport activity, you must wear a Type 3 USCG approved life jacket. Failure to abide by this law may result in personal injury and or fine by the Maryland Natural Resource Police. There must be a life jacket onboard for every person. Children under 13 years of age must wear a life jacket while onboard your vessel.
towboat tips
New towboat owners are always excited to get out on the water as soon as they can. Check out this safety video explaining how to operate your boat in a safe manner. Remember, a safe day on the water is a great day on the water!
